When it comes to sapphires, Kashmir is the place to go. Kashmir is a region in the Himalayas that is contested by India and Pakistan. In the past, Kashmir was known for producing blue sapphires that were highly valued due to their velvety cornflower appearance.

And the best place to find emeralds is in Muzo, which is a municipality in the Western Boyacá Province of Colombia. It is located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) north of Bogota.

Emeralds mined in Muzo are renowned the world over for their flawless Platonic green color, which is achieved by achieving the ideal proportions of chromium and vanadium.

As a consequence of this, they were used as ornamentation by the Incas, the Mughals, and the czars.

And maybe very soon, a Tiffany & Co. customer who is very fortunate.

The well-known shop from New York made the announcement on Monday that it had obtained an extraordinary emerald from the mine that bears its name.

The stone, which has been fashioned in a rectangle cut and weighs more than 10 carats, is known as the Tiffany Muzo Emerald. Its color is a deep, rich green that is found in only the highest-quality emeralds, and its cut is rectangular shape.

According to the president of Muzo Emerald Colombia, the firm that has been operating the ancient mine since 2009, the gem "is considered the finest emerald ever discovered from our mine."

Robb Report was given this information by Jason Woods.

Its exceptional rarity is due to its remarkable size, vivid color, and eye-clean clarity, all qualities that make a Muzo emerald coveted worldwide. Our successful relationship with Tiffany & Co. spans many years, and it was only fitting that this once-in-a-lifetime discovery be named and remembered for generations to come.- Robb Report

Tiffany & Co.'s chief gemologist, Victoria Wirth Reynolds, issued a statement in which she referred to the gemstone as "a continuation of Tiffany’s longstanding heritage of acquiring the most coveted gemstonesthat Mother Nature has to offer."

She said this in reference to the company's longstanding tradition of purchasing the finest stones that nature has to offer.

The historic Puerto Arturo shaft, which is located more than a hundred and fifty feet below ground, is where the emerald was retrieved in the month of December 2019.

The stone does not have any fractures and is almost completely devoid of inclusions; nevertheless, it does have a few microscopic inclusions that are similar to those discovered in Colombian emeralds from the Muzo region.

As the next chapter of Tiffany's annual high jewelrycollection, Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue, the jeweler will make the emerald's debut in the fall in a setting that has not yet been disclosed. This will be a part of the collection.
