Police in Calumet City, Illinois, are looking for a few people after a jewelry store security guard was killed in an armed robberyon Wednesday.
The security guard, who was 57 years old and whose name hasn't been released yet, was killed during a robbery at a jewelrystore in the River Oaks Mall that hasn't been named.
Calumet City Police Chief Kevin Kolosh gave more information about what happened at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. He said that at 12:15 p.m., the officers were called to a report of shots being fired.
As per the report by ABC7 Chicago, several officers were already near the scene at the time because they were in a building next door for active shooter training.
Kolosh said that when the police arrived, they found a male security guard with multiple gunshot wounds. They tried to save his life until the paramedics arrived.
The guard was taken to the hospital quickly, but he died there later. A second man, 81, had a small cut on his hand from broken glass, which was treated at the scene.

Even though Kolosh didn't say out loud how many people were suspected, a surveillance video shared by CBS Chicago shows three people in dark clothes breaking open display cases inside the store.
The mall went into lockdown mode for more than an hour while police searched it, but no one was caught.
People who saw the suspects leave the mall and drive away told the police. No one knows how much and how much something was stolen.
After the search, the police helped the workers and shoppers leave the building. The mall will stay closed until someone tells us otherwise.
According to CBS News, the three thieves then broke a display case with their weapons and stole jewelry from inside. All of this happened in less than a minute.
As the robbers left the store, they stepped over the guard who was bleeding, grabbed the goods and guns, and ran out of the store.
"It was just like, 'Pop, pop, pop, pop!'" said Feras Abusumayah, who was locked inside the mall.
Immediately like, we knew it was gunshots, and they closed the thing. We ran to the back.- Feras Abusumayah
It was unclear where or how many times the guard was shot.
Sean Howard, a spokesman for Calumet City, came to the press conference to say that the mall has had security problems for a long time.
We’ve been in constant talks about taking over this mall for a variety of reasons, particularly for safety and security. The residents here have a very negative opinion of this mall. It has a very bad stigma attached.- Sean Howard
The investigation is still going on, and detectives from Calumet City and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are in charge.
