The Fantasy Program Game Of Thrones Has Inspired A New Collection Of High Jewelry Designs

Fabergé x Game of Thrones

The popular television fantasy drama Game of Thrones has served as inspiration for a new line of high jewelrycreations that have been introduced by Faberge.

The collection will be made available over the course of the next two years in a sequence of "chapters," the first of which will be titled "Dragon." It comes with five different designs, and each one is only available in a collector run of ten pieces.

It borrows design elements from the dramatic settings, clothes, and personalities of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros as well as the strange geography that they inhabit.

The extraordinary journey that Daenerys Targaryen took from orphan to warrior, as well as her passion for her dragons, as well as her merciless pursuit of the Iron Throne, and her ability to use jewelry to reflect her power, have all served as inspirations for each and every one of these designs.

It follows the one-of-a-kind Faberge x Game of Thrones Egg that was sold to a private collector for $2.2 million to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the first episode of the show.

The legendary House of Faberge, which was established in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 1942 and is known for its jeweled eggs, was acquired in 2013 by the British gem miner Gemfields. The House of Faberge was formed in 1942.

Michele Clapton and Liisa Tallgren, Fabergé's Head of Creation, collaborated on the conception and design of this one-of-a-kind high jewelry series. The project was directed by Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell, Fabergé's Creative Director.

Following the unveiling of the one-of-a-kind Fabergé x Game of Thrones Egg in April 2021 to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the TV series' first episode, a landmark milestone known as 'The Iron Anniversary,' the launch of this premium jewelry collection follows in its footsteps. A private collector paid $2.2 million US dollars for the egg when it was put up for sale.

A more complete line of wearable pieces inspired by the show is a natural continuation of this creative cooperation that has arisen as a direct result of the widespread acclaim received by the remarkable egg object.

The design inspiration for the high jewelry line came from the elaborate sets, costumes, and personalities of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, as well as the otherworldly scenery featured in the show.

The extraordinary journey that Daenerys Targaryen took from orphan to warrior, as well as her passion for her dragons, as well as her merciless pursuit of the Iron Throne, and her ability to use jewelry to reflect her power, have all served as inspirations for each and every one of these designs.

The collection was inspired by the strength and vulnerability of Daenerys and her relationship with her dragons, to try and express this complex woman and her journey from orphaned exile to conquering monarch and her ongoing quest for the Iron Throne. The Head of Design at Fabergé, Liisa Tallgren, had the following to say about this collection: "The Fabergé x Game of Thrones 'Dragon' High Jewellery capsule collection showcases diverse facets of the mythological beasts, and documents their journey in the series alongside Daenerys."

From skeletal designs that make reference to the dragon skeletons housed in a vault in the Red Keep in King's Landing to creations that showcase Gemfields' Mozambican rubies to hint that the dragons are back and alive, ready to breathe fire, the dragon skeletons have been referenced in a variety of ways throughout the series.

The climax of "Chapter One: Dragon" is a design that highlights a row of gems and rubies that symbolically explode into flames, demonstrating that the dragons have returned and are brimming with life.
