Drake unveils glittering new jewelry piece as a tribute to Torontowith hopes of bringing good luck to Toronto's sports teams. The artist, known as the "6 God," shared a video on his Instagram Stories on October 10th, showcasing a vibrant chain created by the renowned jeweler Alex Moss.
This dazzling piece is adorned with diamonds and features a pendant shaped like the CN Tower, an iconic symbol of Toronto's skyline. Hanging from this pendant are a red raptor and a blue jay, representing the city's basketball and baseball teams, respectively.
Adding to the charm of the chain, there's a shiny clasp on the back, featuring the logo of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs.
"A project with my brother for ending it in the 6 and dropping on the 6th in the 6," Drake wrote, referencing the October 6 release of his new album "For All the Dogs," and the recent conclusion of his "It's All a Blur Tour" in Toronto.
Furthermore, the artist made a unique promise: he would award the chain, which he dubbed "the crown jewel," to the victorious sports team that secured a championship for the city. He conveyed his intention to personally present this special piece to the winning team during the entire off-season.
On his Instagram page, Jeweler Alex Moss shared a video showcasing the remarkable chain, accompanied by the music of Drake and J. Cole's "First Person Shooter." "The Crown Jewel Of Toronto @champagnepapi," he wrote in the caption. "For All The Dogs #AMNY."
Regarding the collaboration with Drake, Moss explained, "He trusted me with the design and creative lead on the project, but he was very involved. I like when projects are collaborative and when we work together it’s always something special."
Moss mentioned that Drake's reaction to the necklace was extremely enthusiastic. He expressed, "He went nuts when he first laid eyes on the necklace. This is like a holy grail project, this is what every Toronto kid would dream to have."
Drake and Alex Moss have a history of collaboration, having worked together on a previous piece named "Previous Engagements" in December 2022. This chain was a unique creation, featuring a collection of 42 diamond engagement rings. Each ring symbolized the numerous occasions when Drake had contemplated proposing but ultimately decided not to take that step.
The necklace boasted an impressive 351.38 carats of diamonds, meticulously set on 18-carat white gold using the intricate eagle claw technique. Crafting this exquisite piece required a dedicated team of jewelers to invest a total of 14 months in its creation.
"'Previous Engagements,' for all the times he thought about it but never did," the narrator said in a video showcasing the chain. "A true wonder of the jewelry world. Presented by Alex Moss New York and Drake."
In August 2022, Drake proudly showcased a dazzling new Richard Mille watch and a luxurious ring crafted by Alex Moss to commemorate his achievement in surpassing The Beatles' 55-year-old Billboard Hot 100 record.
The ring, aptly named "The Godfather Ring," was adorned with exquisite 18-karat white gold and oval diamonds. In an accompanying video, Drake captioned his post with, "100 in the top 20, I can’t do the rubber strap with that stat line."
